Many of our business activities serve to build this trust.  A beautiful website establishes our professional credibility as does offering high-quality services and sharing success stories of our customers.  The list could go on and on.

But you might be overlooking a very important strategy.

Sharing information—and not just information in your specific field—is an easy way to strengthen the trust that clients, colleagues and prospects have in you.

It’s actually a very easy and quick process, especially when you approach it in a systematic way.

My #1 recommendation is to use a RSS Reader to streamline your process of finding and sharing valuable information.

1.  You don’t have to spend time visiting a ton of websites.  Instead, you can use your RSS Reader to deliver updates from websites that feature relevant information to your business and that of your colleagues, clients, and prospects.

Tip:  Figure out if you need your RSS Reader to be available on desktop computers, iPhones, iPads or Android.

Feedly is my absolute favorite now that Google Reader is leaving the market. Its layout is pleasing to the eye.  It’s pretty simple to set up and navigate.  And I can easily share my Feedly finds on social media.  Another great feature is that I can mark the stories I want to read later and come back to them another time.

But most importantly, it’s an excellent tool for keeping information at my fingertips so that I can easily share it to build trust and credibility with my tribe.

Take Action Now

If you are a former Google Reader, you can export your feeds by visiting Google Takeout (select Google Reader).  Here are further instructions on how to do it.

Otherwise, pick an RSS Reader and subscribe to at least 5 website updates this week.  Set aside time on your calendar to check them once a week and share them further.

  1. It’s funny. For as keyed into all of the online tools as I am, I don’t utilize something like Feedly. I’ve got things bookmarked and then I have all of the pages I follow on FB in specific lists to see what those businesses are posting. I may have to jump on that bandwagon.

Not only do you put yourself out there as a great resource, but you are also forming lasting relationships when sharing other peoples content! LOVE IT! The thing I’m struggling with is scheduling time to actually go on there and share content. I need to put it into my calendar! When you share, do you send it to buffer or is it all live?
