As the holiday months approach, you might be experiencing a sense of relief (mixed with anxiety) about finally taking some time off with your family. Let’s discuss three things you automate for vacation – then you can really relax!!

The main question you may be asking yourself is: Is my business really prepared for me to be offline?

Along with: How am I going to keep sales up or find new clients? What about my newsletter and new articles?

I get it. Even though you’ve started preparing for your vacation, you’re still worried that it’s going to have a negative impact on your bottom line, and if that’s the case, you’ll want to automate these three areas before you go on vacation.

Automate for Vacation – 3 Areas to Systemize Before You Unplug

1.  Automate Your Content

Typically, sales and projects during the summer season slow down for all businesses, which makes it a great time to make maximum use of your archived newsletter emails, articles, podcast episodes, and videos.

You could even create new content by compiling round-up posts for different problems that your ideal clients go through. So if you’re a business coach, you might create a round-up post of ten articles to help entrepreneurs market their next launch.  (There could be some great round-up posts for your content from your archives too!)

TIP: You can figure out which articles are most popular by checking which articles received the most traffic from your Google Analytics,  see which of them got the most comments, or check which ones were most shared on social media.

By automating your content, you can share valuable, evergreen information with your audience that may have been forgotten while you refresh and recharge.

2.  Automate Your Social Media Updates

If you want to keep your marketing engine running while you’re away, you’ll want to automate your social media updates.

If you don’t already have categories, think of a few that fit with your business to make sourcing those updates easier.

For example, some categories might be:

  • Asking questions
  • Sharing quotes/words of wisdom
  • Reshare your content
  • Link and comment to content from other websites

Then you can use a tool like Buffer, Hootsuite or Edgar to post them at intervals while you’re away.

By automating your social media, you allow your tools to systematically expand your visibility, market your services, and connect with influencers.

Automating your content while you’re on vacation is easier than you think! Tweet it.

3.  Automate Your Sales

As you prepare your business for vacation, it’s the ideal time for you to revamp (or create) an intentional email sequence. One that guides someone from being a new subscriber to becoming a paying customer.

You want to make sure that the journey they go through properly represents your message, provides value, and increases sales.

To get started, subscribe to your own email list and look at each part of the process as if you were a brand-new subscriber.

If you don’t already have an email sequence, consider creating a few emails that provide value around a common problem. Then introduce the new reader to a product or service that you offer over a period of time.

By automating the sales process and being intentional about your customer’s experience, you can generate interest in your products and services while you’re away. You might just come home to inquiry messages and sales notifications!
