Julia McPherson is the founder of Innerspace Marketing. She helps entrepreneurs and small business owners build an online home through web and graphic design. Before Systematic Success 2.0

I had studied Natasha’s blog for well over a year and knew that I wanted to work with her. When the opportunity arose, I jumped at the chance: and declared 2015 as my year of systematization. I was hoping to improve my business systems and set myself up to hire someone in the near future.

I had created a client on-boarding process but I knew it had room for improvement. I also didn’t have a defined off-boarding process other than sending an invoice. I’ve redefined that and now have a better system in place to ask for feedback, testimonials, and referrals. I had no systematic approach to blog posts.

I was using Asana here and there, but not putting in the due dates. I was basically shoulder-shrugging my list and therefore, things were getting forgotten. It was a bit chaotic.

After Taking Systematic Success 2.0

Systematic Success 2.0 has changed my entire approach to how I conduct business, and I can see a clearer path for growing my company beyond myself.

Now I have a way to start outlining my blog posts in advance of writing them. I am still working this process out, but Natasha’s unique approach to delivering the content enabled me to actually use a system to streamline my systems. I have updated my on-boarding process, and changed my engagement flow by putting a “Get Started” form on my website. It helps me gather great intelligence before getting on a call with a client, which helps me save time and have efficient conversations.

I’ve learned to think of every interaction with my business as a way for people to flow through my system—whether that is automated, or a more manual process—each and every time I pick up the phone, write an email, reply to a client, I’m engaging in an overall process that defines my experience and my client’s experience.

I’m a list maker and I used to have lists on notebooks, scraps of paper, post-it notes, in emails to myself—you name it. Although I still right notes in my notebook (it’s a thinking process for my brain), I’ve gotten into the habit to recap with the client what we talked about at the end of the conversation to confirm my responsibilities (and theirs), and put those action items into Asana right away, with due dates. I’m a self-imposed due-dater! By learning to approach each client’s project in a systematic way, I’ve been able to keep deadlines and not have to panic that I have forgotten something.
